Work Out The Implications

Recently re-read my favorite book of all time, Cryptonomicon, by Neal Stephenson. I love this quote from the book:

They have not been talking so much as mentioning certain ideas and then leaving the other to work out the implications. This is a highly effective way to communicate.

Sometimes simply sharing an idea or concept without too much detail is better than talking about it ad nauseam.

Let It Snow

Snow in the sky,
  Earth turning white—
A tree like a ghost
  In the gathering night
Low clouds above,
  White world below—
Barn roofs and houses
  Covered with snow.

Deep in his burrow
  The ‘possum is huddled,
Far in the bushes
  Snowbirds are cuddled,
The creek in the morning
  Coldly will gleam,
But I’ve got a fire,
  A book, and a dream.
